King Karel

Verse 1

Trek the malls, buy the dolly
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
'Tis no treason to be holy
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Run we now,with blue squirrel
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Rules the land, old king Karel
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Verse 2

See the roaring fire roaring for us
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Dance the trattia, dance with us
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Ride with me, to their displeasure
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
While I yell, of much splendour
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Verse 3

Fast away your cares and worries past
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Hail the new arnd, minted, new cast
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
Sing we joyous, even if we swelter
Fa-la-la, la-la-la, la-la-la
Here's Alphonse, in his colourful sweater
Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Purpose

Recording the current known words for the carol, written to commemorate a victory of King Karel of Sarn, thought to have occured over the turn of the year. In Grand Duchy and Hetmanate of all Sarn, Ralt and Luxem, there is much celebration before the turn of the year, as well as after, unlike elsewhere, where most celebrations begin with Darkest Day.

Historical Details

History

There are two version of this particular document, held at the Electoral Palace of Silas-Saer, in its permanent Sarn collection. One is in Jean-Sébastien Wolfgang-Motzbach's own hand, and records the version that was popular in his time. The other, perhaps two hundred arnds older, from an unknown hand, records a darker, more ancient version with a fourth verse covering the death of the participants. Few if any but scholars know of this version.

Public Reaction

The Wolfgang-Motzbach version has been reproduced in the public domain for centuries now, recording a popular Carol in use for even more centuries.

Legacy

The popularity of the song, and the famous composer's affection for it makes the version at the palace object of pilgrimages and veneration.
