Path of the Shield Architect

Class: Vitalist

Shield Architects weave protective magic to safeguard their allies, combining healing with magical barriers that absorb damage and defend against harm. They are a cornerstone of any group, ensuring their companions can endure even the direst battles.

Features

Level 3: Arcane Bulwark

Whenever you cast a healing spell on a creature, you also create a shield of magical energy around it. The shield grants temporary hit points equal to 10 + the level of the spell slot used to cast the healing spell.

Level 3: Defensive Presence

As a bonus action, you emanate an aura of resilience. Choose a damage type: bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, fire, cold, lightning, thunder, or poison. You and allies within 10 feet have resistance to that damage type for 1 minute.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Level 6: Reactive Ward

When a creature within 30 feet of you is hit by an attack or spell, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage the creature takes by your spellcasting ability modifier + your Vitalist level.

Level 10: Arcane Bastion

Your protective magic grows stronger. Whenever you grant temporary hit points using Arcane Bulwark, the amount of temporary hit points increases by 5. Additionally, you and allies within 10 feet of you have advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects.

Level 14: Shielding Beacon

As an action, you create an aura of protective energy that lasts for 1 minute. Allies within 30 feet of you gain resistance to two damage types of your choice and advantage on all saving throws.

Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
